Australia - University of New South Wales Post Doctoral Fellowship in Mathematics and Statistics

The School of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to appoint Postdoctoral Fellows as members of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematics and Statistics of Complex Systems (MASCOS), in which the School is a major participant. The four Chief Investigators at UNSW Professors A.H. Dooley, M.H. England, I.H. Sloan and Dr G. Froyland. Persons appointed under this advertisement will be associated with one or more of the following projects:
Ergodic theory and dynamical systems (Dooley).
Harmonic analysis on Lie groups and symmetric spaces (Dooley).
Quasi-Monte Carlo methods for numerical integration and approximation in high dimensions, and stochastic applications (Sloan).
Approximation and PDEs on spheres and manifolds - theory and applications (Sloan).

The salary range for Post Doctoral Fellow is A$65,503 - A$70,062 per year (plus up to 17% employer superannuation plus leave loading).

Although appointments are at UNSW, it should be noted that interaction and collaboration between the five nodes of MASCOS is an obligation to the ARC, the funding body, and is strongly fostered. Appointees will have opportunity and encouragement to visit and work with staff of other nodes. The positions are partly funded by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI). These are fixed term positions for up to two years. Applicants with proven teaching abilities may seek a variant of the position in which 25% of the appointment is considered as a regular academic appointment funded by the School.
